UN Warnings of Deteriorating Health Services in Omdurman

Follow-ups – Mashawir

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) has warned of a serious deterioration in health services in the city of Omdurman due to a complete power outage.

In a statement, the organization explained that the “Al-Naw” and “Al-Balk” hospitals, both affiliated with the Ministry of Health, have been directly affected by the power cut and are suffering from severe shortages of oxygen and water, leading to the disruption of healthcare services at all levels.

The statement added that “Al-Naw” Hospital has become the main facility in the area, receiving patients from the three cities of the capital: Omdurman, Bahri, and Khartoum.

The organization pointed out that it is forced to truck water into the Al-Balk area and transport oxygen from the city of Atbara in River Nile State amid a growing scarcity of resources.

The organization condemned the attacks on civilian infrastructure, calling for their immediate halt, as they endanger civilian lives and violate international humanitarian law.
