A joint statement by the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF condemned the bombing of a humanitarian aid convoy in the Al-Koma area of North Darfur, without identifying the party responsible for the attack.
The two organizations called for an urgent investigation into the incident, describing it as a violation of international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission criticized the joint WFP-UNICEF statement for failing to name those responsible for the attack. The commission pointed out that militias had detained the convoy since May 28, with WFP fully aware of the situation but failing to notify the commission or any other official authority.
