Food Shortage Threatens Two Million People in Darfur

Follow-up Report – Mashaweer

More than two million people in the Darfur region are facing severe food shortages due to the suspension of humanitarian aid caused by war and blockades. This has led to a critical scarcity and a dramatic spike in the prices of most essential goods.

The Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minnawi, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias of targeting an aid convoy after its crew insisted on delivering it to El Fasher and refused to change its destination or offload the humanitarian supplies elsewhere.

In a post on his Facebook page, Minnawi said, “The RSF killed the aid workers, began looting and unloading the trucks that survived the fire, and then exploited the army’s airstrikes on their forces to shift the blame onto the military.”
