Residents of El Fasher are facing dire conditions due to severe food shortages and the lack of life-saving medicines, amid a deteriorating health and environmental situation that threatens to spark outbreaks of disease and epidemics.
Civilians are being killed as a result of ongoing military confrontations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Joint Force on one side, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the other. The RSF is attempting to seize control of El Fasher, the last stronghold of the Sudanese army in the Darfur region, after it took over four of the region’s five states.
The army and the Joint Force are working to defend the city and repel RSF attacks.
