Health Ministry: Imminent Breakthrough in El Fasher Siege Crisis as Airdrop Operations Resume

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The Acting Minister of Health, Ibrahim Khater, has announced an imminent breakthrough in the siege crisis affecting the city of El Fasher, following the resumption of airdrop operations to deliver vital supplies.

During a meeting with health sector officials at the city’s hospitals, Khater stated that additional measures are being taken to lift the siege on El Fasher, though he did not disclose specific details.

The minister further revealed that the ongoing siege and continuous shelling have led to a severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies, and food, prompting the mass displacement of citizens, including medical and healthcare personnel.

For over a year, El Fasher has been under a suffocating blockade imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The siege has caused a total collapse of basic services, extreme inflation of available goods, and pushed residents to the brink of famine amid the collapse of the healthcare system and lack of essential medicines.
