The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated on Tuesday that “more than 40 people,” including children and healthcare workers, were killed in an attack on a hospital in Sudan earlier this week.

The attack occurred last Saturday at Al-Muglad Hospital in West Kordofan State, near the front lines between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Tedros called for an immediate end to attacks on health infrastructure, without naming the party responsible for the assault.

The WHO office in Sudan reported that six children and five medics were among the dead and confirmed significant damage to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Emergency Lawyers, an independent legal group focused on addressing human rights violations, blamed the Sudanese army for bombing the hospital with a military drone on Saturday. In a statement issued on Sunday, the group said the death toll was nine.
