The United Nations Security Council will hold an open session followed by a closed meeting on the morning of Friday, June 27, to discuss the latest developments in Sudan, with the participation of Sudan’s UN mission.
According to diplomatic sources, the closed session will include two briefings on Sudan. The first will be delivered by Ambassador Joonkook Hwang of South Korea, Chair of the Sanctions Committee on Sudan, covering the committee’s work. The second briefing will be given by the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to Sudan, Ramadan Lamamra.
Sources also expect that Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, the Assistant Secretary-General for Africa in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, will deliver a briefing during the open session.
