Mashawir – Reports

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that the Personal Envoy continues to emphasize the vital importance of intensifying and further unifying diplomatic efforts by the international community to end the war in Sudan.

In his daily press briefing, Dujarric noted that Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi’s team is currently finalizing consultations regarding the upcoming meeting of the Advisory Group, which will be organized jointly with the African Union in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

He reiterated the UN’s call for all parties in Sudan to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law by protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure and ensuring safe and sustained access to people in need across the country.

Dujarric affirmed that the UN will continue its engagement to facilitate the rapid and safe delivery of vital humanitarian assistance.

He also expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian impact of the fighting across Sudan, particularly in the Kordofan region, where the violence is driving further displacement and worsening humanitarian needs.
