Traders from the city of Kadugli in South Kordofan State told the Mashawir platform that “the city is still suffering from a lack of food supplies due to the failure to issue permits for traders and truck drivers to enter the city,” which has contributed to the ongoing shortage of essential goods in the markets.
Security sources attributed the failure to grant permits for trucks loaded with goods to ongoing clashes along the road with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), which puts the truck drivers and their cargo at risk.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), supported by the SPLM-N, are attempting to cut off the national highway linking Kadugli and Dilling, and to reimpose a siege on towns in South Kordofan, after the army partially broke the siege on Dilling, which had been in place since the war began in mid-April 2023.
