Egypt, Libya, and Sudan to Hold Meeting on Regional Security Developments

Monitoring – Mashawir

The Egyptian capital, Cairo, is expected to host a trilateral meeting in the coming days involving delegations from Sudan, Egypt, and Libya to discuss coordination and cooperation between the three countries in enhancing regional security and stability, according to Cairo News Channel.

The border triangle region shared by Egypt, Sudan, and Libya has witnessed rising tensions and security escalations, particularly following the entry of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) into the area. The Sudanese army has accused Libyan forces affiliated with Khalifa Haftar (commander of the so-called Libyan National Army) — specifically the Salafist Brigade — of participating in the attacks, an allegation the Libyan army has denied.

Late last month, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met separately with Marshal Khalifa Haftar and Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan in the Egyptian city of Alamein, coinciding with the developments in the border triangle area.
