The National Mine Action Center has announced plans to destroy 50,000 artillery shells in early August, collected from the seven localities of Khartoum State.

Brigadier Khalid Hamdan, the center’s director, reported that in 2025 there were 49 casualties resulting from 20 incidents, leading to 12 deaths and 37 injuries. This compares to 59 casualties from 28 incidents in the previous year, which caused 14 deaths and 45 injuries.

Hamdan noted that the total number of victims of war remnants and landmine explosions reached 26 fatalities and 86 injuries during 2024–2025.

In a related development, the organizations “Friends of Peace and Development” and the “National Units for Mine Action” announced the removal of 250 explosive remnants of war in the areas of Al-Qutaynah, Al-Awaj, and Al-Jabalein, following the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from White Nile State. More than 100,000 residents benefited from awareness campaigns in the targeted areas.
