Schools, Markets Shut Down and Health Centers Halt Operations in Kadugli

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The group “Women Against Injustice” stated that suffering and hardship are mounting for the residents of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, as schools and health centers have stopped operating, markets have closed, and basic goods have disappeared, while no aid has arrived for months.

According to the group’s statement, more than 96% of families are unable to meet their daily needs, with a large proportion of children suffering from severe malnutrition, while options dwindle and voices remain unheard.

The food crisis is worsening in the cities of Dilling and Kadugli in South Kordofan due to the blockade and the closure of the road connecting them to North Kordofan by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu and allied with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has halted the supply of essential goods.

The statement warned that the humanitarian situation in Kadugli is no longer a temporary emergency but a deepening crisis that has left the community to face its fate alone, stressing that hunger must not become an accepted reality met with silence.

The Advisory Council for Nuba Affairs, aligned with the RSF, also issued a statement condemning the arrests carried out by state security forces against several women in Kadugli.

It rejected what it described as the state government’s practice of “mobilization in exchange for food,” warning that it threatens to destroy the social fabric and affirming its solidarity with the victims of the humanitarian crisis and famine in the city.
