A tight siege imposed by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Dilling city in South Kordofan State from all directions has created catastrophic humanitarian conditions, forcing residents to flee to surrounding villages and rural areas in search of food.
According to residents who spoke to Mashawir, the blockade has led to a complete halt of food and medical supplies and the collapse of essential services. Many basic goods, such as onions and spices, have disappeared from the markets, especially after military intelligence arrested several traders for allegedly violating price control regulations.
Residents noted that the prices of the few available goods have skyrocketed to unbearable levels, and some families have resorted to eating wild grass to survive.
Dilling is overcrowded with displaced people from Habila locality and the villages of Takuma and Al-Bouk, who have taken shelter in school buildings.
