Arman: Current Situation Poses a Direct Threat to Sudan’s Unity and Stability

Reports – Mashawir

Yasir Arman, leader of the “Sudan People’s Movement – Revolutionary Democratic Current,” stated that “for the first time since independence in 1956, Sudan has two governments competing for power, resources, and legitimacy, both complicating the political solution and prolonging the war.”

In a post on Facebook, Arman noted that this unprecedented situation poses a direct threat to Sudan’s unity and stability, emphasizing that political legitimacy must belong to the people and the forces of the revolution, not be the result of imposing a fait accompli through military force or narrow alliances.

He warned “against repeating the Libyan model that led to the collapse of the state there,” stressing that the shortest path to peace is for all parties to sit down to reach an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that ends the humanitarian catastrophe, provides protection for civilians, and ultimately ends the war to establish a state of equal citizenship, democracy, development, and justice.
