Fears of Imminent Famine in Dilling and Kadugli Due to Siege

Reports – Mashawir

Reports have warned of an imminent famine threatening the cities of Dilling and Kadugli in South Kordofan due to a siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Movement, along with the closure of the main road used by trucks to move between North and South Kordofan.

Residents speaking to Mashawir said that in Dilling, people line up for sorghum grain, with half of them returning empty-handed as the limited supplies allocated by government agencies and humanitarian organizations have run out, and markets have been depleted due to the siege.

At the end of June, the army announced control over a road linking Dilling and Kadugli; however, military operations did not continue to keep the main route connecting North Kordofan open for humanitarian and commercial convoys.

UN agencies acknowledged this month that securing safe corridors for delivering aid remains difficult in the towns of Al-Fula, Al-Debibat, Al-Khuwei, Kadugli, Dilling, and dozens of villages across North, South, and West Kordofan.
