Cholera Sweeps Through Displacement Camps in Darfur, Worsening Humanitarian Crises

The Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees in Darfur has reported a sharp surge in daily cholera cases across displacement camps, particularly in the Tawila area.

The cumulative daily number of cases has reached 2,571, with 46 deaths since the outbreak began, while the daily infection rate fluctuates between 100 and 200 amid a collapsing healthcare system.

Spokesperson for the Coordination, Adam Regal, revealed that the outbreak has spread to camps and areas including Atash, Dereig, Al-Salam, Martal, Golo, and Geldo in the Jebel Marra region.

Meanwhile, Kalma camp for displaced persons has recorded 312 infections and 32 deaths.
