Forces from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu launched a heavy artillery attack on several residential neighborhoods in the city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State.
The shelling resulted in the deaths of two people and left three others injured with varying degrees of wounds.
Witnesses reported that the intense bombardment lasted for more than an hour and targeted neighborhoods in the northern part of the city.
This escalation comes at a time when residents of Kadugli are already suffering from deteriorating living conditions, with local sources warning of an imminent humanitarian disaster that could reach famine levels.
