Tragic Conditions for Sudanese Refugees in Eastern Chad

Report – Mashawir

The Governor of West Darfur State, Bahr El-Din Adam Karama, has revealed the tragic conditions facing the large numbers of Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, describing the situation as “extremely painful” due to the limited available services.

Karama noted that “the refugees are facing severe humanitarian challenges in terms of shelter, healthcare, food and medicine shortages, education, and security, in addition to the lack of identification documents and the weak international support compared to the scale of the disaster they are facing.”

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing this major humanitarian crisis.

The governor also pointed out that El Geneina, the capital of the state, “is also facing extremely difficult humanitarian and security conditions due to the war and the criminal acts committed by rebel militias.”

He affirmed ongoing cooperation with international and regional partners to establish safe humanitarian corridors to deliver aid.
