The city of Al-Fula, the capital of West Kordofan State, is currently experiencing extremely harsh humanitarian conditions following a large wave of displacement triggered by airstrikes carried out by military aircraft and recent clashes between the warring parties in the towns of Abu Zabad, Al-Hamadi, and Al-Dibibat.
According to Al-Fula Emergency Committee member, Mawahib Al-Balla, hundreds of families have been forced to flee to Al-Fula, joining others who had previously arrived from Babnousa, Lagawa, Khartoum, and Al-Nahoud.
Al-Balla explained that this large influx of people has worsened health and living crises, with many living in the streets and sleeping on the ground amid the absence of shelter and basic facilities.
She pointed out that among the displaced are the sick, people with disabilities, the elderly, as well as pregnant and nursing women, and orphaned children who resort to begging in order to survive.
She further noted that the number of displaced persons in Al-Fula has exceeded 4,000, scattered across shelters, streets, and some valleys on the outskirts of the city, where they live under trees.
