Dozens of employees were injured in Ed Daein, the capital of East Darfur State, after the Sudanese army’s warplanes bombed a government building.
According to witnesses, an aircraft flew at a high altitude before launching missiles that caused powerful explosions and plumes of smoke. Military sources suggested that the strike was carried out with a missile fired from a warplane at long range, outside the airspace of Ed Daein.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil administration in East Darfur stated that “army aircraft targeted the Urban Planning Ministry building in Ed Daein, completely destroying it and injuring dozens of employees and unarmed civilians.”
The statement described the attack as “brutal aggression” that destroyed infrastructure and public service facilities for citizens.
Ed Daein — the stronghold of the Rizeigat ethnic group, from which RSF leaders and most of its fighters hail — had previously been subjected to airstrikes, most recently in March, when a fighter jet bombed the main local government headquarters used by the RSF as a hub for managing civilian affairs.
Since the early months of the war, East Darfur State has been entirely under RSF control, with the group establishing a civil administration to provide services to residents.
