Doctors have warned of a surge in malnutrition among children and women in South Kordofan State amid a worsening hunger crisis.
Razan Al-Mahdi, spokesperson for the Sudan Doctors Network, said:
> “The network is sounding the alarm over the ongoing siege and the shortage of food and medicine, which have caused a significant spread of malnutrition among children, women, and the elderly due to hunger in South Kordofan.”
She noted that the network is issuing warnings to South Kordofan authorities to address the situation, as malaria, cholera, and dysentery spread across the state.
The spokesperson urged the authorities to open a humanitarian corridor to bring in aid, lift the siege on the state, supply food and medicine, and end the suffering of thousands of civilians in South Kordofan.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), from their positions in Al-Dibibat, are preventing the delivery of goods, relief supplies, and medicines from El-Obeid — which has accessible routes to central Sudan — to areas of South Kordofan, including Kadugli.
