UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said:
> “We are once again witnessing, with deep regret, unbearable atrocities being committed against civilians in El Fasher, where they have been living for over a year under siege, continuous attacks, and catastrophic humanitarian conditions.”
He added:
> “Once again, I warn of the risk of ethnically motivated persecution amid attempts by the Rapid Support Forces to seize control of El Fasher and the Abu Shouk camp.”
UK Foreign Secretar David Lammy said that hundreds of thousands of people are trapped in the city, facing famine and disease.
Lammy condemned what he described as:
> “A pattern of deliberate, brutal violence against civilians,”
and stressed that:
“The warring parties must act responsibly to put an end to this suffering.”
