Doctors Warn of Worsening Malnutrition Among Children and Women in South Kordofan

Mashawir – Reports

Doctors have raised alarms over the spread of malnutrition among children and women in South Kordofan State amid a deepening hunger crisis.

Razan Al-Mahdi, spokesperson for the Sudan Doctors Network, stated that the network is “sounding the alarm over the ongoing blockade and the shortage of food and medicine, which have caused a sharp rise in malnutrition among children, women, and the elderly as a result of hunger in South Kordofan.”

She noted that the network is warning the authorities in South Kordofan to address the crisis, especially with the spread of malaria, cholera, and dysentery.

The spokesperson urged authorities to open a humanitarian corridor to allow aid deliveries and lift the blockade on the state, in order to provide food and medicine and alleviate the suffering of thousands of civilians in South Kordofan.

Meanwhile, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are preventing the delivery of goods, aid, and medicine from the city of El Obeid—located on accessible routes to central Sudan—into South Kordofan areas, including Kadugli, from their positions in Dilling.
