The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim in Sudan, Luca Renda, stated that the war in Sudan has become one of the most dangerous conflicts in the world for humanitarian workers.
In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, Renda stressed that humanitarian workers are being subjected to attacks, detention, harassment, and even killing while carrying out their duties.
She pointed to the severity of humanitarian needs, which have reached unprecedented levels.
The statement added: “We commemorate World Humanitarian Day amid a deep crisis facing Sudan and the global humanitarian system.”
