Revolutionary Civil Forces Condemn Child Recruitment in Sudan’s War

Reports – Mashawir

The Revolutionary Civil Forces in the Central Region expressed their strong condemnation of the exploitation of children in the ongoing war between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Muslim Brotherhood militias. This came after a video circulated showing a captured child fighter in RSF custody, estimated to be between 13 and 14 years old.

Montasir Habani, head of the Revolutionary Civil Forces in the Central Region, stated in a press release that “the recruitment of children constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and humanitarian agreements, most notably the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Geneva Protocols, and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which criminalizes such practices.”

Habani called for the designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, holding it responsible for exploiting the poverty of Sudanese families and pushing children into the battlefield instead of school classrooms.

He urged all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law, release the children, and return them to their families, while ensuring psychological and social support for them.

Habani also warned Sudanese families in the Central Region against falling prey to the enticements of the organization’s recruiters.
