Mashawir – Reports

The Sudanese Teachers’ Committee has called for a salary increase for teachers after publishing a study on the rising cost of living.

In a statement, the committee demanded that the minimum wage be raised from 12,000 Sudanese pounds to 184,680 Sudanese pounds, along with a 25% increase in allowances for those working in education, based on their basic salary.

It also called for fixed-value allowances to be reviewed every six months to keep up with fluctuating prices, in addition to paying all outstanding dues, including salaries, allowances, bonuses, and grants.

The committee pointed out that its Social Affairs Office conducted a study on the minimum cost of living in Sudan, comparing it to the basic salary for all employment grades, calculated in US dollars.

The study revealed that the cost of living for a family of five has risen to 1,652,000 Sudanese pounds, equivalent to $4854.
