World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom has called for the immediate delivery of pre-positioned medical supplies stored in Nyala, South Darfur — around 200 kilometers away — to El Fasher.
He noted that 260,000 people in El Fasher are in urgent need of medical assistance, including 130,000 children suffering from malnutrition without sufficient food, whose lives depend on these supplies.
In a post on his account on the platform “X,” Adhanom highlighted that many survivors of sexual violence in the city lack access to healthcare and psychological support.
He further stated that the besieged city, under blockade for over 500 days, has reported 5,000 suspected cholera cases, with nearly 100 deaths linked to the disease.
