Eight civilians were killed and more than five others injured in the villages of Mitaqi and Ob Tuwq in the Ayal Bakhit area, following attacks by armed elements affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Witnesses reported that RSF fighters stormed the two villages, carrying out “looting operations and burning homes and markets, which forced residents to flee and displace.”
Military sources revealed that the army has deployed new personnel and logistical reinforcements toward the Kordofan front to support its ongoing military operations in preparation for expanding them across western axes, particularly along the Western Export Road northwest of Omdurman and areas surrounding the cities of Bara and Al-Obeid.
The Jabra Al-Sheikh area, located 21 kilometers from Khartoum, is of great strategic importance as it previously served as an RSF stronghold for cutting supply routes and disrupting army movements. It is also a key junction connecting North Kordofan and Darfur, and a main stop on the historic Route 40, which links eastern, western, and central Sudan. Additionally, it serves as a hub for herders and a major market for livestock and crops in the region.
