Worsening Humanitarian Situation in Tarsin Village as Cholera Outbreak Spreads

Spokesperson for the Sudan Liberation Movement, Mohamed Abdelrahman Al-Nair, stated that the humanitarian situation in the Tarsin area is extremely critical, and that the cholera outbreak—already spreading before the landslide disaster—has further worsened the plight of severely affected residents.

Al-Nair pointed to large waves of displacement from several nearby villages amid heavy rains and flooding, at a time when severe shortages of food and medicine are intensifying.

The organization Save the Children reported that survivors in Tarsin have been using their bare hands in attempts to reach those trapped under the landslide that struck the area days ago.
