Hunger and Cholera Threaten Lives of El Fasher Residents

Reports – Mashawir

As hunger and the food crisis worsen in El Fasher, which has been under siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for more than a year and a half, the cholera outbreak continues to spread. According to the latest update from the Darfur General Coordination of Displaced Persons, the death toll has risen to 429, with 10,854 cases reported across the Darfur region since the disease first broke out.

The Sudan Doctors’ Network declared that the humanitarian situation in El Fasher is deteriorating dangerously, noting that children, women, and the elderly fleeing the siege are left to die in the open.

In its statement, the network said that residents of El Fasher “are dying twice every day—once from RSF bullets on the city’s outskirts, and once more from hunger and shelling within it—in a fully-fledged crime committed before the world’s eyes and its silence.”
