The Sudanese Doctors’ Network announced that at least 18 people were killed by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gunfire during an incursion into a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of El Fasher, while 14 others, including three young women, were abducted and taken to an unknown location.
In a statement, the network warned against the killings and abductions being carried out by the RSF against unarmed civilians inside residential areas.
It highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in El Fasher, where intense clashes, artillery shelling, and drone strikes have continued for the second consecutive day. This escalation has led to the collapse of basic services and an unprecedented worsening of civilian suffering.
The statement described the recent escalation—marked by the RSF infiltrating northern neighborhoods of the city and committing killings and arbitrary arrests—as a direct threat to civilian lives that further deepens the humanitarian catastrophe.
It also warned that the continuation of such conditions portends grave consequences, calling on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to protect civilians, ensure safe delivery of medical and humanitarian aid, and push for an end to fighting in residential areas and civilian gathering points.
The RSF has maintained a tight siege on El Fasher since April 2024, in an attempt to capture the city, which is considered the Sudanese army’s last military stronghold in Darfur, after the RSF seized control of Nyala, Zalingei, El Geneina, and Ed Daein in 2023.
