UN Human Rights Commission Documents War Deaths in Sudan

The United Nations Human Rights Commission documented the killing of 3,384 civilians, including 990 individuals outside the scope of hostilities, in addition to 201 cases of sexual violence during the first half of this year.

In its report, the Commission stated that “between January 1 and June 30, at least 3,384 civilians were killed, including no fewer than 191 children, in the context of the conflict.”

The report noted that 2,394 victims were killed during combat operations, while the remaining 990 individuals were victims of unlawful killings outside the context of direct fighting.

According to the report, Darfur was among the most affected regions, with 1,535 civilians killed, including 1,380 in North Darfur, followed by Kordofan with 724 deaths, and Khartoum with 691 deaths, while the remaining victims were distributed across Gezira, White Nile, Sennar, River Nile, Northern State, Blue Nile, and Kassala.
