Federal Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, announced urgent measures to support states affected by the dengue fever outbreak.
Ibrahim stressed the need to launch comprehensive emergency operations across the country’s states by identifying all essential requirements for such operations, coordinating with donors, the Ministry of Finance, and state governors, while also mobilizing community efforts and activating local response mechanisms — particularly in Khartoum, Gezira, Sennar, White Nile, River Nile, and North Kordofan, which are the hardest hit by the outbreaks.
Following a meeting with the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, the minister emphasized the importance of activating the supreme platform of the Higher Ministerial Committee — which includes all relevant ministries — to spotlight these epidemics, engage other ministries in response efforts, and encourage both state support and public participation in control campaigns.
Meanwhile, the Civil Defense Forces in Khartoum State carried out an intensive campaign for cleaning, environmental sanitation, and vector control.
Lieutenant General Osman Atta, Director General of the Civil Defense Forces, stated that the campaign is part of the police force’s community responsibility programs, implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Health and other concerned bodies, with the participation of more than 1,000 civil defense officers and soldiers.
