International Committee of the Red Cross: What Is Happening in El Fasher Is a Humanitarian Catastrophe

Reports – Mashawir

Daniel O’Malley, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Sudan, described the situation in El Fasher as a humanitarian catastrophe.

He noted that more than 260,000 men, women, and children are trapped in the city, surviving on only one meal a day and risking their lives just to find water — even if it is unsafe to drink.

O’Malley explained that civilians in Kordofan have been living in a state of continuous displacement, under constant stress and pressure, due to shifting and unstable frontlines.

He added, “This situation cannot continue. The people of El Fasher and Kordofan — and the people of Sudan as a whole — must not be abandoned or ignored.”
