Field sources from the city of El Fasher reported that 13 people were killed and 20 others injured after artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck a displacement shelter located inside a mosque in the Abu Shouk neighborhood.
As a result of the attack, a large number of displaced people fled the center fearing a repeat of the strike.
An eyewitness said, “After the shells fell in the afternoon on the Abu Shouk mosque, we pulled out 13 bodies from under the rubble.”
One survivor reported that at least 70 families had been sheltering within the mosque’s walls “after RSF forces stormed our homes.”
He added, “Yesterday, artillery shells hit and killed 13 people, wounded 20 others, and destroyed part of the mosque,” in a city that has been under siege for more than a year.
