The Zamzam Camp Emergency Room in El-Fasher revealed in a post on Facebook that the majority of children are suffering from severe malnutrition, particularly those who have lost their parents due to the bombing of the camp or because they went missing.
The Emergency Room warned that any delay in providing aid to civilians trapped in the camp could lead to catastrophic consequences, as hunger continues to spread amid a severe shortage of food supplies.
Meanwhile, the camp’s spokesperson, Mohamed Khamis Doda, stated that there is a large-scale internal displacement taking place within the city of El-Fasher, as residents flee to escape repeated attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on city neighborhoods. He added that the RSF continues to tighten its blockade and use starvation as a tool to force the remaining residents to leave.
For the past two years, El-Fasher has been experiencing an unrelenting escalation of military operations, artillery shelling, and continuous armed clashes, in addition to a suffocating siege that has created a severe and worsening humanitarian crisis marked by acute shortages of food, medicine, and drinking water.
