The El Fasher Resistance Committees have warned that the hunger crisis in the city has escalated to a tragic level.
In a final appeal to both local and international bodies, the committees stated:
> “Hunger is killing our people slowly, and we will stop issuing these repeated pleas and watch our own death with you.”
The statement concluded with the words:
> “This is the end of the statement, gentlemen,”
— a phrase reflecting the exhaustion and despair felt by the residents of El Fasher.
The city of El Fasher and large areas across Darfur are facing severe humanitarian pressures due to the deteriorating security situation, collapse of services, and shortage of aid, which have led to the widespread food insecurity among civilians.
