The Sudanese Doctors’ Network reported on Friday that at least three children die every day in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, due to hunger and lack of food, as the humanitarian and health situation in the city continues to deteriorate.
In a statement, Razan Mahdi, the network’s spokesperson, said:
> “Every day, we lose no fewer than three children in El Fasher due to malnutrition, disease, and the severe shortage of medical and humanitarian resources.”
She added that the humanitarian situation in the city is catastrophic, with a rising number of child deaths caused by acute food shortages and soaring cases of malnutrition-related illnesses, amid no signs of opening humanitarian corridors that could save thousands of trapped children and families.
The network expressed deep concern over the tragic conditions witnessed by its field teams in El Fasher, noting that the severe food and medicine shortages caused by the ongoing siege have pushed the humanitarian crisis beyond comprehension.
