The Quartet Decides to Form a Committee to Coordinate Priorities in Sudan

Reports – Mashawir

The U.S. Senior Advisor to the President for Arab and African Affairs, Mossad Boulos, said today (Saturday) that the members of the Sudan Quartet have agreed to establish a joint committee to enhance coordination on urgent priorities in Sudan.

Boulos stated on the “X” platform that the meeting, hosted by the United States in Washington yesterday and attended by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, discussed ways to halt foreign interference in the Sudanese crisis and to advance the transition toward civilian governance.

He added that the member states of the Quartet also discussed ways to reach an immediate humanitarian truce and achieve a permanent ceasefire in Sudan. The Quartet reaffirmed its commitment to the statement issued on September 12 concerning Sudan.

The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which erupted in April 2023, has displaced millions of Sudanese and led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
