The Joint Force allied with the Sudanese army accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Tuesday of executing more than 2,000 unarmed civilians in the city of El Fasher, western Sudan, since Sunday, following alarming reports of multiple violations supported by satellite imagery.
El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, has in recent months become the epicenter of the ongoing conflict between the army and the RSF, which began in April 2023.
In a statement, the Joint Force said the RSF committed horrific crimes against innocent civilians in El Fasher, where over 2,000 defenseless residents — mostly women, children, and the elderly — were executed and killed on October 26 and 27.
The United Nations on Monday warned of an “increasing risk of ethnically motivated violations and atrocities,” following alerts issued by several independent observers.
