The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sommoud) has issued an urgent appeal to all parties in Sudan’s conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians, particularly in areas where control is shifting between warring sides across several states.
In a statement, the alliance urged international and regional organizations, as well as the global community, to exert maximum pressure on all parties to end violations, open safe humanitarian corridors, and guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations in North and South Kordofan, North Darfur, and other conflict zones.
The United States also called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to act immediately to protect civilians and prevent further suffering, urging its commanders to issue clear and public orders to ensure the safety of civilians, humanitarian workers, and relief operations, as well as to immediately open safe passages for civilians fleeing to secure areas.
The U.S. Embassy in Sudan, in a post on the X platform, stated that the world is watching El Fasher and the actions of the RSF with deep concern, as fighting in the city intensifies and more civilians seek safety from escalating violence.
