Displacement from El Fasher Continues Amid Escalating Violence

Reports – Mashawir

The displacement of civilians from the city of El Fasher continues as living conditions worsen and violence intensifies. Those fleeing are walking up to 60 kilometers on foot toward the town of Tawila, without access to food or water.

According to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), Rapid Support Forces (RSF) units are blocking civilians from reaching safe areas, with some reportedly being killed or tortured during their flight.

Since the RSF took control of El Fasher on October 26, about 62,000 people have fled the city out of an estimated population of 260,000, whose fate remains uncertain due to the attackers cutting communication networks and mounting evidence of mass killings.

In a statement, the organization reiterated its deep concern that large numbers of residents in El Fasher remain in imminent danger, as the RSF and its allied groups continue to prevent them from reaching safer areas such as Tawila.

It added that its medical teams in Tawila are dealing with a massive influx of displaced people and the wounded following the RSF’s takeover of El Fasher.
