The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that more than 100,000 people have been displaced from the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, and surrounding areas since late October, following the Rapid Support Forces’ takeover of the city.
In a statement, the office reported that the situation in North Darfur is dire, noting that most of the displaced arriving from El Fasher have reached temporary shelters under harsh conditions and with immense humanitarian needs.
It also highlighted that children arriving from the city are suffering from acute malnutrition.
The displaced who have reached displacement gathering areas in North Darfur State are experiencing worsening humanitarian crises.
