WHO: 40,000 Sudanese Children Suffering from Malnutrition
Follow-ups – Mashawir
The World Health Organization’s representative in Sudan, Shible Sahbani, said that children under the age of five and pregnant women are particularly at risk.
He noted that 4.9 million people are in urgent need of life-saving nutritional interventions.
In an interview with the United Nations website, Sahbani stated that more than 40,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition with medical complications were admitted to treatment centers in 2025.
He also projected that nearly 800,000 children under the age of five will suffer from severe acute malnutrition in 2025.
The World Health Organization warned that Sudan’s health system is facing unprecedented pressure amid widespread disease outbreaks, a severe shortage of health services, and rising numbers of deaths and malnutrition.
