“Nine” Civilians Killed in Drone Strike in West Darfur
Follow-ups – Mashawir
Nine people, including women and children, were killed and others injured as a result of two airstrikes carried out by a drone belonging to the Sudanese army on Friday evening, targeting two areas in West Darfur State, according to local sources.
The sources reported that the drone hovered over El Geneina, the state capital, for more than an hour before firing two missiles, the sound of whose explosions was heard in different parts of the city.
The first strike targeted the Ardamata area east of El Geneina, while the second strike hit an area east of El Geneina Airport.
El Geneina has been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since November 2023. The RSF faces accusations of committing war crimes, genocide, and ethnic cleansing against the Masalit ethnic group, the largest tribal community in West Darfur.
