Hamdok Meets International Organization to Strengthen Humanitarian Aid in Sudan
Follow-ups – Mashawir
Former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok held a meeting with leaders of the international organization Samaritans Purse, including Ken Isaac, Vice President for Programs and Government Relations, and Edward Graham, CEO of International and Domestic Operations, to discuss ways to enhance humanitarian cooperation amid the escalating crisis caused by the ongoing war in Sudan.
The meeting focused on ways to expand humanitarian aid within Sudan and in displacement areas, as well as the political and humanitarian challenges that hinder relief from reaching millions of affected people.
In a post on his official X page following the meeting, Graham noted that Hamdok had been part of the civilian leadership managing Sudan after many years of military rule, before being removed in a 2021 military coup that led to his arrest and dismissal.
Graham added that the coup pushed the country toward a civil war that has continued for two years, causing significant humanitarian suffering for the Sudanese people, while expressing his appreciation for Hamdok’s time and his attention to discussing the political and societal challenges Sudan faces under the current circumstances.
