The US President’s Adviser for African Affairs, Massad Boulos, said that Washington is planning to organize a donors conference for Sudan, as part of its efforts to secure a humanitarian truce.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 33.7 million people, including 17.3 million children, will need humanitarian assistance this year.

In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Boulos said that “the United States is working to organize a donors conference on Sudan, which will be held in the coming weeks.”

He noted that Washington aims to establish a fund and mobilize financial resources that will be used directly to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

Boulos explained that President Donald Trump views the situation as extremely serious, describing it as the largest humanitarian catastrophe in the world that must end quickly.

He added that the United States is discussing developments in Sudan with its partners in the international Quartet and other parties.
