IOM: One-Third of the Sudanese People Displaced During the War
Mashawir – Follow-ups
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) stated that “nearly one-third of the Sudanese population has been displaced during the conflict, totaling more than 15 million people. This includes 11.58 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) within Sudan and approximately 4 million who fled across borders at the height of the crisis.”
In a statement, the organization added that, “on average, five displacement-inducing events occurred weekly during this period due to conflict and natural disasters, leading to widespread displacement.”
The IOM emphasized that without tangible progress toward peace and stability, millions of Sudanese will remain trapped in a cycle of displacement, loss, and uncertainty.
