Collapse of Hospitals in Kadugli Exacerbates Residents’ Suffering
Follow-ups - Mashaweer
The Sudanese Doctors Network has reported a collapse of the health situation in South Kordofan State, with 50% of facilities in Kadugli, the state capital, now out of service.
In a statement, the network said that the siege imposed on South Kordofan, which has lasted for more than two years, has caused a dangerous deterioration of the health situation amid ongoing shelling and military operations.
The statement explained that the city of Kadugli contains five government hospitals and 10 government health centers, which are currently operating at no more than 50% of their capacity.
It confirmed that a large number of these facilities have gone completely out of service due to the war, the siege, and a shortage of medical personnel, supplies, and blood bags.
The network condemned the ongoing military operations, shelling, and siege, which have led to an acute scarcity of basic medical supplies, including gauze, cotton, intravenous fluids, and blood transfusion bags. This has directly impacted the ability of the few remaining functional hospitals and health centers to provide life-saving medical care.
