Egypt Counts on Continued Coordination Within the “Quad” to Stop the War in Sudan
Follow-ups – Mashaweer
Egypt has emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination within the framework of the International Quartet the “Quad” to achieve a humanitarian truce in Sudan, followed by a comprehensive ceasefire. This comes as humanitarian conditions worsen due to the war, amid UN warnings that current food aid supplies in the country could be depleted within two months due to a lack of funding.
A phone call between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also addressed the necessity of establishing safe humanitarian havens and corridors to allow for the delivery of aid, as the war continues for more than 1,000 days.
Earlier, Minister Abdelatty stressed that the Sudanese crisis requires a concerted international and regional effort to expedite an end to the bloodshed. He highlighted the gravity of the current stage and its severe implications for regional peace and security, particularly for neighboring countries, the Horn of Africa, and the Red Sea region.
